Why Baishakh as first month of Year?

Baishakh is the first month of Vikram Samvat, the historical Hindu calendar mainly in India and Nepal. It uses lunar months and solar sidereal year. It is used as the official calendar in Nepal.There are 30/31 (30.950 exactly) days in Baishakh.

Baishakhi is a vibrant festival considered to be one of the most important festival for farmers of Nepal and India. It is celebrated all over Nepal and India with different names and rituals with a common goal of welcoming new year that brings fortune and challenges.

Hindu scholar chooses Baishakh as first day of new year because every year Baishakhi falls on 13^th April but only in every 36 years it falls on 14^th April. Hindu astrology not only considered physics and astronomy but also farmers point of view. This change in date is because our calendar is reckoned according to the solar calendar. Astrologically , Baishakhi is important as marks sun’s entry in Mesh Rashi.

For farmers, Baishakhi is time to harvest winter crops and enjoy result of hard work with their loved ones.

The traditional New Year of Vikram Samvat is one of the many festivals of Nepal, marked by parties, family gatherings, the exchange of good wishes, and participation in rituals to ensure good fortune in the coming year. It commemorates the birth, Enlightenment and passing of Gautama Buddha on the first full moon day in May, except in a leap year when the festival is held in June.

Value of PI in Rig Veda:

The number π is a mathematical constant. Originally defined as the ratio  of a circle's circumference to its diameter, it now has various equivalent definitions and appears in many formulas in all areas of mathematics and physics. It is approximately equal to 3.14159. It has been represented by the Greek letter "π" since the mid-18th century, though it is also sometimes spelled out as "pi". It is also called Archimedes’ constant.

Rig veda, source of infinite knowledge is believed to have proof of everything. A Sloka in the 10th book of Rig Veda appears to be written for praising Lord Indra. The technical translation of that Sloka gives the value of Pi up to 28 digits accurately. It is not until the invention of the computers that the western mathematicians could get this value up to 16 digits accurately. 

Vedic Numerical Code in the Vedas

In Sanskrit, the following Vedic Numerical code was used in many slokas

“Kaadi nava

Meaning:

Kaadi Nava Starting from ka, the sequence of 9 letters represent 1,2,..9

Similarly Taadi Nava , starting from ta

Paadi panchaka (1-5), starting from pa

And ksha represents 0

Time Dilation

 From perspective of Hinduism.

Since childhood I was quite fascinated by Theory of Special Relativity published by Albert Eienstine in 1905. I always believed that except velocity of light there is only one thing in universe that is constant everywhere i.e. “Time”. But in early 20^th century Albert Eienstine changed the way of our vision to see and observe universe.

There is one famous quote related to Time Dilation ; “Moving Clock Runs Slow”. This statement clarifys that if any object moves faster than normal rate then for that object time won’t behave normal. Time will run slower as it moves faster.

But we should not ignore that the concept of Time Dilation in Hinduism was there nearly about 10,000 years ago. It has been written in form of story not in mathematical theorem.

Story Behind Time Dilation in Hinduism

Once there used to be a very kind king and he was strong follower of Hinduism and strongly believed in The Karmic Theory of Universe, written and explained in Bhagwat Geeta, a hindu holy book.

He had done more than enough karma throughout his life. Being pleased with him, god provide him pleasure of heaven before his death. After his all karmas were balanced, he returned back to earth.To his surprise no one he knows ,was there and millions of ages were passed on. He asked god to clear his confusion. He was so confused and asked god that what was actually happening to him.

God said,” Time of Earth and Heaven runs at different rate. Although you spend just some days in Heaven ,Millions of years will pass on the Earth”

God again said,”Don’t worry human, one day on earth human like you will tell you about this  and today we all know him as the great scientist of all time Albert Eienstien and his theory of Time dilation,Relativity and twin paradox.

Hinduism was able to predict this about 10,000 years ago.

1 kalpam is Brahma’s day and another is Brahma’s night.

1 day of Brahma = 86,400 years for humans on earth.

For human ,86,000 seconds = 1 day.

Why do we Fast?

Fasting is a very integral part of the Hindu religion. Individuals observe different kinds of fasts based on personal beliefs and local customs.

Fasting is the willing abstinence or reduction from some or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time. An absolute fast or dry fasting is normally defined as abstinence from all food and liquid for a defined period, usually 24 hours, or a number of days. Water fasting allows the drinking of water, but nothing else, although black coffee and tea may be consumed. Other fasts may be partially restrictive, limiting only particular foods or substances, or be intermittent.

Fasting in Hinduism indicates the denial of the physical needs of the body for the sake of spiritual gains. According to the scriptures, fasting helps create an attunement with the Absolute by establishing a harmonious relationship between the body and the soul. This is thought to be imperative for the well of human being as it nourishes both his/her physical and spiritual demands.

Hindus believe it is not easy to unceasingly pursue the path of spirituality in one’s daily life. We are harangued by a lot of considerations, and worldly indulgences do not allow us to concentrate on spiritual attainment. Therefore, a worshipper must strive to impose restrains on himself/herself to get his mind focused. And one form of restraint is fasting.

However, fasting is not only a part of worship but it also helps us to maintain a sound lifestyle. It makes one more discipline about his/her diet.

Ayurvedic Views:

The underlying principle behind fasting is to be found in Ayurveda. This ancient Hinduism medical system sees the basic cause of many diseases as the accumulation of toxic materials in the digestive system. Regular cleansing of toxic materials keeps one healthy. By fasting, the digestive organs get rest and all body mechanisms are cleansed and corrected. A complete fast is good for health, and the occasional intake of warm lemon juice during the period of fasting prevents the flatulence. When one keep fast, body gets enough time to remove all the toxic materials from the body.

Since the human body, as explained by Ayurveda, is composed of 80% liquid and 20% of solid, like the earth, the gravitational pull of moon affects the fluid contents of the body. It causes emotional imbalances in the body, making some people tense, irritable and violent. Fasting acts as antidote, for it lowers the acid contents in the body which helps people to retain their sanity.

Besides this, fasting from beginning is used as a way of non-violent protest. From a matter of dietary control, fasting has come to be a handy tool of societal control. It is a non-violent form of protest. A hunger strike can draw attention to a grievance and can bring about an emendation or redress. It is interesting to note that it was Mahatma Gandhi who used fasting to capture people’s attention.

Theory of Evolution: Darwin and Veda

Evolution is change in the heritable characteristics of biological populations over successive generations.Evolutionary processes give rise to biodiversity at every level of biological organisation, including the levels of species, individual organisms, and molecules.

Charles Robert Darwin, best known for his contributions to the science of evolution, a modern scientist who proved the theory of evolution of living organism. He established that all species of life have descended over time from common ancestors and, in a joint publication with Alfred Russel Wallace, introduced his scientific theory that this branching pattern of evolution resulted from a process that he called natural selection, in which the struggle for existence has a similar effect to the artificial selection involved in selective breeding.

Darwin published his theory of evolution with compelling evidence in his 1859 book On the Origin of Species, overcoming scientific rejection of earlier concepts of transmutation of species.

Test of Darwin’s theory of evolution on apes?

It’s sad Charles Darwin didn’t know Sanskrit or he would not have made his laughable proposition.

There is incontrovertible scientific proof that Charles Darwin was in over his head about evolution.

Apes fall under four broad categories: gorilla, orangutan, chimpanzee and gibbon. They clearly correspond to our four Vedas: Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva.

Theory of Creation of Universe

Hindusim, the oldest religion on planet. Not exact date of starting of Hinduism is known to us and is believed that the Vedas and Upnisad were written about 10,000 years ago.

Vedas and Upnisad were not written by any personal but were directly listened from Gods and then were delievered to human, that is the reason Veda says to worship The Param Atman who is formless and is never born ,never destroyed ,was at the beginning of Universe and will remain after the end of Universe.

Formation of Universe:

According to Hindu Methodology, Universe is created, nurtured and destroyed after every one day of Brahma.

In one complete cycle of formation of Universe, there are total of four Yugas namely; Satya Yuga, Dwapara Yuga, Treta Yuga and kal Yuga in the ratio of 4:3:2:1. All the Yugas totaling 432,00,00,000 (432 million) make one Chaturyuga and that constitutes one Brahma Day!

At the starting of Brahma day, there is a explosion which is also known as Big Bang in today’s science releasing infinite amount of energy and matter through time and space. Dark energy and dark matter is represented by steam of Lotus which is still unknown to modern science. At the beginning, infinite amount of energy is concentrated at a point on God Vishnu’s naval and is practically unstable which goes on disintegration and today science knows by Eienstine formulae . Once Brahma night starts, Universe starts to contract and all the scattered matter and energy will get collapsed to a point which is also known as Big Crunch in today’s science.

It is quite surprising that the facts scientist discovering now is written in Hinduism and resembles perfectly to each theory.

God Vishnu resting on bed made by snakes and long rooted lotus grows from his naval and God Brahma on the top of flower with background of time and space gives clear vision that Universe is created through naval of Vishnu. Once Vishnu goes to rest, consciousness known as Brahma gets up and created Universe.

Shiva Tandav

Taṇḍavam (also known as Taṇḍava nṛtya) is a divine dance performed by the Hindu god Shiva. Shiva's Tandava is described as a vigorous dance that is the source of the cycle of creation, preservation and dissolution.

The cosmic dance of Shiva symbolizes the interplay of dynamic and static divine energy flow, containing the five principles of eternal energy — creation, preservation, destruction, illusion and emancipation.

·         Srishti - creation, evolution

·         Sthiti - preservation, support

·         Samhara - destruction, evolution

·         Tirobhava - illusion

·         Anugraha - release, emancipation, grace

Thus Tandava symbolizes the cosmic cycles of creation and destruction, as well as the daily rhythm of birth and death. Shiva is the symbol of 'Brahmn', the universal consciousness.

Is there any scientific reason why Shiva does Tandava?

Ø  Every time when Universe is created or destroyed, Shiva dances on stotram which was sing originally by Ravana, King of Lanka when he was at Mount Kailash. Shiva dances in definite pattern with his cosmic drum releasing the vibrations of Universe endlessly. The Cosmic drum  known as “damru” the instrument of the  Shiva, and is said to be created by Shiva to produce spiritual sounds by which the whole universe has been created and regulated. Also the sound produced by Cosmic drum is said to be origin from where Sanskrit is created. He dances to control the infinite amount of energy released when Universe is created at Big Bang. With his long hairs he holds the released matter and energy together. He was present before the universe and will be there after the universe, he is timeless and is not affected by death.

Ø  Recently discovered particle  “Higgs Boson”, known as God Particle is said to be there before universe and binds every matter and energy together.

Ø  Shiva long hair extends from zero to infinite represents the Higgs field.
