Why number 108 is so important in Hinduism?

Most of modern Hindu are so confused and involved in generating negative Karma and degrading their life and so they believe that everything written in Hindu Philosophy are superstitious.

When dharmic rituals are performed in temples or homes, Priest uses 108 rice grains in Puja. Many people chants either Vedic Mantras or other mantras for 108 times. Often we are told by Priest that 108 is very important for us in religious way.

Unknown to real meaning behind the number, we are taking this as deep rooted superstitious believe but it is nothing like that. Hinduism is full of scientific fatcs and everything we do is based on pre-done research.

108 is simple a ratio obtained when we divide distance between sun and earth by sun’s diameter.

Ratio = Distance between sun and earth / Diameter of sun
          = 149.6 million KM / 1.3914 million KM
          = 108

Also, the ratio of distance between earth and moon at extreme points divided by moon’s diameter results in number 108.

Modern scientist were able to find the distance between sun and earth nearly 200 years ago but Hinduism were able to prove it nearly about 10,000 years ago written in Veda and Upnisads.
